Officers' Biographies:

Marcelino D. Albuerne M.D.
Executive Director
My name is Marcelino D. Albuerne, MD, and I'm the Executive Director/Co-Founder of Global Medical Logistics. I was born in Havana, Cuba, and came to the United States with my family when I was nine years old. I grew up in Maryland, and despite early adversities, I was able to fulfill my dreams by going to medical school and becoming a physician. Since then, I have become a certified Medical Director, as well as being board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine; I 've been in private practice for the last twenty-seven years. I felt very fulfilled and accomplished as a physician, a family man, and a humanitarian, until I spoke with my long time patient and friend, Mark Freundel in late 2010. Mark, who owns Marcus Medical, explained to me that he was working with hospitals and medical centers, who constantly discard perfectly good equipment and supplies. We realized our potential, and felt very blessed to have the means to provide and receive good medical care. We understood that there are many less fortunate communities around the world. We then spoke with my son, Marcelino Andres Albuerne, who was equally excited about this opportunity. It was believed that through our shared experiences, we had an opportunity to make a real difference in the world. This was the beginning of Global Medical Logistics, helping hands around the world.

Mark D. Freundel
Chief Operations Officer

My name is Mark D. Freundel, and I am the Chief Operations Officer at Global Medical Logistics. I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD to a middle classed family, and was also one of several siblings. At an early age, we learned the values of hard work and determination to strive for the American dream. Later in life, while working in the transportation industry, I had learned how to successfully run my own transportation company. I first started in transporting printed goods, banking goods, and U.S. mail. As my company grew and diversified, I was introduced into the medical field; I transported pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and equipment. I then started to get more involved with the medical field by handling and installing exam tables and other facades of exam rooms and hospital rooms. As I installed new equipment, I removed and disposed the old equipment. At that time, it did not occur to me that most of the medical equipment could be reused, until an idea came to mind. At a yearly checkup with an old friend and personal physician, Dr. Marcelino D. Albuerne, I explained my concerns of the wasted used and new medical supplies and equipment. We came to the conclusion that through our combined efforts we could create something great, and through this, Global Medical Logistics was first dreamed.

Marcelino A. Albuerne
Development Supervisor
My name is Marcelino Andres Albuerne, and I'm the Development Supervisor at Global Medical Logistics. Throughout my life, I have always had the interest of helping others. In early adulthood, I was a certified firefighter/EMT for the state of Florida, and then had the opportunity to see the world by working for the airlines. During the time I traveled, I experienced and saw many things, and the wanting to become more involved in my immediate community, United States, and the rest of the world grew immensely. As I resigned my position at the airlines, I returned to school to study healthcare science. When I was presented with the opportunity to become involved with Global Medical Logistics, I felt truly fortunate and blessed.
